How did you come to work at Grouse Mountain?

I’ve lived my whole life in Wyoming and have always wanted to live in Buffalo. I stumbled upon a job opening when looking for a place to settle down and couldn’t believe there was a consulting firm that was hiring.

What do you do for Grouse Mountain?

I am an Archaeological Field Director and Crew Chief.

What made you choose this career path?

Well, I grew up pretty outdoorsy (hunting, fishing, etc.) and happened to also be good at math. When I first went to college, I was only a couple of classes away from graduating with a business degree. I ended up taking an Anthropology class as one of my last electives and fell in love with it. I knew I would be miserable if I wasn’t working outside and when I found out there are jobs that pay you to go look for arrowheads…. Well, let’s just say I never got that business degree and have never looked back.

What’s your favorite part about working at Grouse Mountain?

Grouse Mountain has been fantastic so far. They have really given me space to grow in my career and within the consulting industry in general. I’ve been allowed to pursue areas of my career that I have not had the opportunity to explore within my previous companies.

What’s an experience that stands out to you from working at Grouse Mountain?

One of my most memorable experiences was when we discovered a site rich with artifacts that provided significant insights into the region’s prehistoric cultures. The thrill of uncovering history firsthand is unparalleled.

What do you love about Wyoming?

Wyoming has and will be forever my home. I love the mountains, foothills, and the desert and like to hunt, fish, and camp with my dogs any chance I can get. Wyoming is the perfect place for someone who enjoys the outdoors.

What are some of your hobbies?

Beyond hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking, I like to create things out of antler, such as knife handles. I’m also fond of baking, cooking, and smoking meats. I spend my time with friends playing tabletop board games. Beating my grandpa at cribbage is always fun too.

What are a few fun facts about you?

I’ve never lost a battle of Disney karaoke, I can do fun voices and want to be a voice actor someday, and I am the proud owner of Skye, Spock, and Sputnik – the three space dogs.

If you could tell readers one thing about yourself and your job, what would that be?

I never imagined growing up that I would be in the position to do what I love as a job. I recommend everyone to always pursue their passions and don’t give up!

If you could tell readers one thing about Grouse Mountain, what would THAT be?

The positive company culture at Grouse Mountain creates a warm and friendly environment where we can push each other to grow as individuals and as a team.
